As a post doctorate fellow and faculty in the department of GI surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago she focused exclusively in the role of emotions, stress and lifestyle factors on eating and body weight, and the effect of specific foods on the gastrointestinal tract.
As a member of the medical faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine she was jointly appointed in the Department of Surgery and Psychiatry, and participated in medical resident education and provided clinical services for patients with wide range of emotional conditions e.g.: mood disorders, eating disorders and coping with serious physical conditions or chronic illness.
Her scientific publications include the impact of nutrients (like milk, iron, fish oil, calcium, chlorophyll) and lifestyle patterns like exercise and stress on the immune system, health and disease. In addition to scientific articles, she has written chapters for medical textbooks and presented in national and international conferences on the topic of emotions, stress and disease. Dr. Andrianopoulos is also the author of Retrain your Brain Reshape your Body (McGraw Hill, 2008) which provides tools to build a stronger more resilient body and mind as a way to regain physical and emotional wellness.
